In this role, you will work closely with students in grades 9-12 to build their mathematical skills, boost their academic confidence, and prepare them for higher education. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of high school mathematics—ranging from Algebra to Probability & Statistics—and possesses the unique ability to break down complex concepts into digestible, engaging tutor sessions. Key Responsibilities •
Targeted Small Group Instruction :
Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions covering Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. •
Curriculum Alignment:
Assess students' current math levels and design customized learning plans that align with state standards and classroom curricula. •
Exam Preparation:
Help students prepare for standardized/state tests and routine classroom exams. •
Progress Monitoring:
Monitor, record, and evaluate student progress. Provide regular, constructive feedback to the Math instructor. •
Engagement & Mentorship:
Foster a positive, supportive, and growth-oriented learning environment that reduces math anxiety and builds student confidence.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a closely related STEM field required. (Teaching certification is a plus but not required). •
Subject Expertise:
Mastery of high school mathematics subjects up to at least Probability & Statistics. •
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience tutoring or teaching high school-aged students. •
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain abstract concepts using multiple teaching methods to suit different learning styles. •
Tech-Savvy:
Proficient with educational technology, online graphing calculators (like Desmos), and virtual learning platforms if remote sessions are required.
