Job Description
In-person Humanities Tutor Developmental Learning Solutions (DLS) is looking for an experienced humanities tutor to work primarily with middle school English and history students on a part-time basis. We provide training and a team of specialists with whom to learn and collaborate. Tutors work to provide content support to those who learn at different speeds or in different modalities. This is an opportunity to provide both content and mentoring support while making a difference; experience with some clinical management is also gained. Your role would be to work 1-on-1 with students in our clinic on some weekday mornings, though it may also be possible to tele-tutor students in the afternoon over Zoom. The position includes providing individualized instruction while monitoring learning and curiosity, tracking progress, recording clinical notes, and preparing for subsequent sessions. We seek a personable, collaborative, detail-oriented, and organized individual who has a working understanding of neurodivergence. We are open to individuals looking to supplement their private practice/caseload, transitioning from a school to private practice, or interested in joining a long-established practice with a dynamic, dedicated team of learning professionals.

Passionate about supporting students who learn differently Knowledgeable about the humanities, interested in staying up to date on the material, and willingness to learn and teach flexibly Available to work in-person in an office setting Able to design and implement curriculum plans Collaborative, flexible and comfortable working with a team Computer literate, comfortable with technology and proficient with Office 365, Jane, Google apps and cloud platforms Able to implement learning and intervention plans Possess strong empathic, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues Working knowledge of neurodivergence and learning disabilities Punctuality and promptness! Superior communications skills (all media) with professional behavior Current college students with minimum 2 years completed, recent graduates, and experienced educators are all encouraged Previous experience working with neurodivergent learners About DLS Developmental Learning Solutions (DLS) is a well-established practice in the South Bay, operating since 1993. At DLS, we understand, evaluate, and work with students' unique learning processes and help them navigate a path to success. We serve students struggling in the learning environment, including 2E and gifted and talented learners, and many with identified learning and other conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and ASD. How to Apply This is a local, in-person position at our 3550 Stevens Creek Blvd office, though it might also include some Zoom sessions depending on learners' needs. Candidates must have at least 8 hours of morning availability per week. The number of hours per week varies.
