Job Description

About Hybrid Homeschool Academy Hybrid Homeschool Academy (HHA) is a family-directed homeschool support program that gives learners structure, instructional guidance, accountability, small-group community, and meaningful learning experiences. Families provide curriculum and remain the homeschool provider; HHA partners with them through facilitation, conferencing, personalized pathways, feedback, and creative Academic Lab experiences. The Opportunity The Learning Assistant is more than an extra set of hands. This person helps the day move with purpose by supporting learners, preparing engaging materials, reinforcing routines, noticing needs, and creating the conditions in which the Lead Learning Facilitator can teach effectively. The right person will be patient, proactive, dependable, and ready to learn HHA's model. What You Will Do Support learners one-to-one and in small groups under the direction of the Lead Learning Facilitator. Reinforce directions, read or clarify tasks, check progress, and prompt students toward independence without completing work for them. Prepare, organize, distribute, and reset curriculum materials, hands-on supplies, learning tools, and workspaces. Help facilitate arrival, transitions, community-building activities, lunch routines, reflection, and dismissal. Assist during Skills, Discovery, and Wonder experiences by encouraging participation, curiosity, discussion, creativity, and responsible use of materials. Observe student engagement, successes, and concerns and share concise, objective notes with the Lead Learning Facilitator. Provide calm redirection and encouragement while helping maintain a safe, welcoming, focused learning environment. Protect confidentiality, follow HHA procedures, contribute ideas, solve practical problems, and support special activities as the program grows. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in education, child development, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Experience with children or teens through tutoring, schools, homeschooling, camps, after-school programs, childcare, ministry, coaching, or youth organizations preferred. Solid foundational reading, writing, and mathematics skills and a willingness to ask questions when support is needed. Patient, observant, proactive, and positive, with strong organization, communication, professionalism, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving. At least 18 years old, consistently available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, punctual, and able to pass a background check. Compensation and Growth This part-time position pays $12-$15 per hour. Starting pay will reflect education, experience, initiative, reliability, creativity, and fit with HHA's model. Additional hours or responsibilities may become available as HHA grows. How to Apply Email your resume, your Tuesday/Wednesday availability, and a brief statement of 3-5 sentences explaining why you would be a strong fit for a creative, mixed-age learning environment to drbrandianbufford@hybridhomeschoolacademy.com.
