Job Description

Job Summary CCRI Advantage is an innovative program that helps associate degree-seeking CCRI students get a strong start in college. The goal of the program is to help students prepare for college-level coursework and to meet CCRI's proficiency milestones prior to starting credit-bearing courses in their first semester of college. The program seeks to successfully transition math and reading/writing students from their developmental status to successful completion of credit-bearing/transferable course credits. The tutor will serve as a team member (three-person team) to deliver seven-week CCRI Advantage math foundational curriculum, providing one-on-one and small group tutoring in-person to students struggling with course subject matter. They will provide in-classroom support to students as an embedded tutor, and facilitate advisory time for additional student learning. Tutors will be an integral member of the team to assess student achievement. Tutors may be required to commute to two (2) separate campuses (one per each 7-week session in the semester). Duties and Responsibilities Engage actively with students during group work and class activities, with a focus on supporting learners in developmental mathematics courses. Reinforce and explain mathematical concepts and lessons as presented by the instructor, using accessible, student-centered approaches appropriate for foundational math learners. Build strong, positive relationships with students to increase their confidence, motivation, and sense of belonging in developmental math courses. Proactively monitor student progress and reach out to students who are absent, disengaged, or struggling, encouraging continued participation and offering support. Provide individualized and small-group tutoring both in-person and online, with an emphasis on developmental math skill-building. Work one-on-one with students who need additional support, adapting explanations and strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Model effective study habits, problem-solving techniques, and positive classroom behaviors that support success in math. Guide students in locating and effectively using textbooks, online course materials, and other learning resources. Anticipate student needs by identifying learning gaps and offering help-even when students may not directly ask for it. Support the development of organizational, time management, and study strategies specific to success in developmental math courses. Self-motivated and take initiative in offering assistance, identifying learning gaps, and engaging students even when they do not explicitly request help. Refer students to appropriate college support services and departments as needed to promote holistic academic success. Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Communicate regularly with the campus coordinator to support effective program operations. Document tutoring interactions and student progress using software and shared documentation systems. Attend meetings and collaborate as part of the CCRI Advantage team. Perform other related duties as required. Minimum Requirements Earned Bachelor's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, engineering, or related field. Upper-level undergraduate majors in those disciplines may be considered.
