Job Description
York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The Academic Coaches and Tutors performs the following functions: Provide academic coaching and/or tutoring i n the Academic Coaching & Tutoring Center on campus for selected courses and promote understand ing of homework, assignments, and projects. Prepare and conduct weekly tutoring sessions for selected courses. Meet with the ACT coordinator as necessary. Conduct outreach to students on provide d A lerts lists . Enter availability, appointments, and summaries in Na vigate a s necessary. Attend ACT trainings and meetings. Participate in and help facilitate campus events to promote the ACT as appropriate . Knowledge of effective study , organizational , and time-managements skills as well as a familiarity with methods to set and progress - monitor goals . Demonstrate d competence in academic courses as determined by course grade and references. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated characteristics of responsibility, desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility. Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking skills to various situations. Ability to work with college students of diverse backgrounds. Demonstrate d competence in using basic computer software /applications ( e.g. Microsoft Office, D2L, Navigate).
