Job Description Thrive is a placement agency for part-time tutors and full-time teachers providing in-home tutoring and personalized learning support. We are hiring an in-home High School STEM Tutor for a student in Brentwood, TN . This role is ideal for a dynamic, analytical educator with a strong background in math and science who enjoys helping students think critically, make connections across disciplines, and gain confidence in rigorous STEM coursework. The student is capable and curious, but benefits from structured instruction, clear explanations, and a tutor who can connect abstract concepts to real-world applications. The focus of this role is supporting high school-level STEM learning , strengthening problem-solving skills, and building long-term academic confidence in math- and science-based courses. Work Location In person Duties Design and deliver high-impact, structured STEM-focused tutoring sessions Lead engaging, one-on-one in-home instruction centered on math and science mastery Support coursework in high school STEM subjects such as Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics (based on student needs) Break down complex quantitative and scientific concepts into clear, logical steps Reinforce analytical thinking, modeling, and multi-step problem-solving strategies Support homework completion, lab understanding, and test preparation Help the student make connections between math and science concepts Build confidence and independence in approaching challenging STEM material Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on mastery and performance Collaborate with the Thrive team and family on individualized academic goals Provide concise, actionable feedback to parents after each session Communicate promptly and professionally with all stakeholders Follow through on instructional plans, session goals, and commitments Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; degree in STEM field or education strongly preferred Experience teaching or tutoring high school students in math and/or science Strong content knowledge in one or more high school STEM disciplines Ability to clearly explain abstract, technical material Organized, dependable, and well-prepared Strong communication skills with teens and parents Confident, encouraging, and calm instructional presence Commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness Attention to detail and consistent follow-through Self-starter who thrives in a personalized, one-on-one learning environment Proven ability to help students build mastery and confidence in STEM subjects Commitment 1-2 sessions per week, typically about 1 hour each In-home sessions in Brentwood, TN Afternoon or early evening availability preferred
