MOTLOW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
is accepting applications for the following position: Peer Tutor (General Pool)Campus:
All campuses Position number: BS9983 and BS9991. Salary starting at $11.86 per hour Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. Motlow positions are contingent upon funding availability and budget approval.General Function:
Tutors work with Disability Services, Writing Centers, Math Labs, and as imbedded peer tutors in certain courses. Tutors are needed for all campuses in a variety of subjects. This application is ongoing and covers multiple possible tutoring jobs throughout the year.Minimum Qualifications:
A student with the ability to communicate and work well with others. Students will need to demonstrate knowledge level by attaching an unofficial copy of transcripts to his/her/their application. This can be cut and pasted from the student's MyMotlow account or uploaded as an attachment. Students seeking employment in the Writing Centers will also need to attach a 2-10 page writing sample to his/her/their application. Grades of B or higher are often required in specific courses to be hired as a paid tutor.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous tutoring experience is a plus.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
One-on-one tutoring- Group tutoring
- Completing necessary training
- Editing papers
- Taking notes
- Maintaining digital tutoring schedule
- Filling out forms
- Helping others navigate technology to complete assignments
- Reading exam questions to students
- Providing constructive feedback
- Maintaining student confidentiality
