4:30 PM-6:30 PM Two days of programming at The Pointe at Ben White Two days of programming at Bridge at Cameron No Fridays or weekends About the Position IWRBR Consulting is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and literacy-focused Reading Tutor to support our Clubhouse Kids Afterschool Program across two Austin communities: The Pointe at Ben White and Bridge at Cameron . The Reading Tutor will work directly with students in 1st through 8th grade to strengthen foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and overall confidence as readers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working one-on-one and in small groups and is passionate about helping students become stronger, more confident readers. The Reading Tutor will split their time between both Austin locations and help provide consistent, high-quality literacy support across each site. Key Responsibilities Provide literacy instruction and tutoring to students in 1st through 8th grade . Work with students individually and in small groups based on their reading needs and skill levels. Support foundational reading skills, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language. Incorporate Science of Reading-aligned strategies and evidence-based literacy practices when appropriate. Facilitate engaging reading activities, word games, literacy challenges, and other activities that make reading enjoyable. Provide homework and reading assistance when needed. Follow literacy lesson plans, instructional resources, and program expectations provided by IWRBR Consulting. Monitor student progress and communicate observations regarding student strengths and areas for growth. Maintain accurate student participation and program documentation. Create a positive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment. Use positive behavior management strategies to keep students engaged and focused. Build positive relationships with students and encourage confidence, persistence, and a love of reading. Work collaboratively with the Clubhouse Leader and other program staff. Travel between The Pointe at Ben White and Bridge at Cameron according to the weekly programming schedule. Prepare literacy materials and learning spaces before students arrive and ensure materials are organized at the end of each program day. Communicate professionally with IWRBR Consulting leadership, families, and community partners when appropriate. Follow all organizational safety, attendance, and program procedures. Qualifications Experience working with children or youth in a tutoring, classroom, afterschool, childcare, summer camp, or similar setting. Strong understanding of literacy development and reading instruction. Experience providing reading or academic support is preferred. Familiarity with Science of Reading principles and evidence-based literacy practices is preferred. Ability to work effectively with students across a range of reading abilities and grade levels. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Patient, encouraging, and able to build positive relationships with students. Ability to work at multiple program locations and adapt to different site environments. CPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Must be at least 18 years old. Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
