Department Mathematics Position Type Student Salary $9.00 per hour Open Date 11/14/2025 Close Date Open Until Filled No Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The purpose of this position is to tutor mathematics students, enhance their mathematics knowledge and help them develop skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner. Minimum Qualifications Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed. Completion of at least 12 credit hours At least a "B" average for all math courses. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning. Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs. Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts. Preferred Qualifications Prior tutoring experience. S.T.E.M. concentrated degree plan. Completion of Calculus I with high standing. Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas). Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as MyMathLab. Special Instructions to Applicants This is a security-sensitive position.
