Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

College-level student or college graduate

Experience:

Experience working with elementary-age students in an educational, afterschool, enrichment, childcare, or youth development setting, preferred

Experience supporting small-group instruction, tutoring, and enrichment activities, preferred

Experience assisting with student supervision, behavior management, and engagement in structured learning environments, preferred

Ability to follow instructional guidance, program schedules, and Texas ACE grant expectations under the supervision of a site coordinator

Familiarity with Texas ACE, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC), or other educational program requirements, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Working knowledge of basic computer applications and district-approved systems used for communication and documentation

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Effective organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information with professionalism and discretion

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively and effectively with students, families, and campus staff

Ability to follow program procedures, schedules, and guidance provided by the Texas ACE Site Coordinator

Ability to implement High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) strategies and evidence-based instructional practices under the guidance of the Texas ACE Site Coordinator.

Ability to analyze student progress data and adjust instructional support to meet individual student needs.

Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and campus staff to support student achievement.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, or other languages representative of the program community

Experience working with diverse student populations and families

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Student Supervision & Learning Environment

Supervise and support students during Texas ACE program hours to ensure a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

Maintain a classroom or activity environment conducive to effective learning and student engagement.

Encourage and reinforce positive student behavior while supporting district and campus expectations.

Take reasonable precautions to protect students, instructional materials, equipment, and facilities.

Assist in upholding school rules, district policies, administrative regulations, and Texas ACE program expectations.

Promote regular student attendance, participation, and engagement through positive relationships and structured activities.

Academic Support & Instruction

Support student academic achievement through homework assistance, reteaching, small-group instruction, and other targeted learning activities.

Provide High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) to assigned students using district-approved instructional materials and evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with grade-level standards.

Implement tutoring sessions with fidelity to district and Texas ACE High-Impact Tutoring expectations, schedules, and instructional models.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and support individual student learning goals through High-Impact Tutoring.

Review assignments, student work, and teacher guidance to identify learning needs and provide appropriate instructional support.

Utilize research-based instructional strategies and instructional materials to support student learning.

Support students throughout the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing.

Differentiate instructional support to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of students.

Become familiar with instructional materials and curriculum resources used in Texas ACE programming.

Enrichment & Student Engagement

Facilitate enrichment, recreational, and hands-on learning activities that promote creativity, leadership, collaboration, and social-emotional development.

Assist with implementing academic enrichment activities aligned with Texas ACE program goals.

Foster student motivation, confidence, responsibility, and self-esteem through positive interactions and encouragement.

Encourage active participation in enrichment opportunities that support student success and overall well-being.

Communication & Program Support

Communicate regularly with the Texas ACE Site Coordinator, instructional staff, and other program personnel regarding student progress, attendance, participation, and areas of concern.

Maintain attendance records, tutoring documentation, student progress records, activity documentation, and other data required for High-Impact Tutoring implementation and Texas ACE grant reporting.

Participate in student progress discussions and share observations that support instructional planning and intervention decisions.

Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, families, campus staff, and community members.

Assist the Site Coordinator with daily program implementation and operational needs.

Support family engagement activities, student recruitment, and other program initiatives as assigned.

Support summer programming and other Texas ACE activities in accordance with grant requirements.

Professionalism & Program Expectations

Model professionalism, ethical conduct, dependability, and positive character for students.

Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with district policies, FERPA, and applicable state and federal requirements.

Follow district policies, campus procedures, and Texas ACE/Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant requirements.

Participate in all required Texas ACE, High-Impact Tutoring (HIT), district, and campus professional learning.

Complete required documentation, progress monitoring, and reporting accurately and in a timely manner.

Implement High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) practices with fidelity using district-approved instructional materials and established program expectations.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Texas ACE Program.

Safety

Perform preventive maintenance on classroom tools and equipment to help ensure safe and effective operation.

Follow established safety procedures and techniques while performing job duties, including lifting, carrying, and operating office equipment.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Correct unsafe conditions within the work area when possible and promptly report conditions that cannot be immediately corrected to the supervisor.

Follow district emergency procedures, safety protocols, and applicable requirements during meetings, trainings, family events, summer programming, and other Texas ACE activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands

Typical demands of a school and afterschool learning environment, including standing, walking, bending, lifting instructional materials (15-20 pounds), supervising students, and occasional computer use for program documentation.

Work Environment

Primarily school-based with regular interaction with students, campus staff, families, and Texas ACE personnel in an afterschool and summer learning environment. Work is performed in classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, libraries, playgrounds, and other instructional or recreational areas. Attendance at occasional trainings, family engagement activities, and special events outside of regular program hours may be required.

Mental Demands:

Provide academic and enrichment support to students; demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills; follow verbal and written instructions; maintain attention to detail; work collaboratively with staff and students; adapt to changing student and program needs; maintain emotional control under stress; and manage multiple responsibilities in a structured learning environment.

Part-time, as needed; not to exceed 20 hours per week
