Friday Overview:

IDEA McAllen is seeking a dedicated and patient Homework Help Tutor to support elementary students in completing daily assignments, developing study skills, and building academic confidence. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive and structured learning environment that encourages students in grades 1st through 5th to grow academically and stay engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic support in core subjects such as reading, writing, and math. Assist students with completing homework assignments accurately and on time. Offer individualized or small-group tutoring to address learning gaps and reinforce key concepts. Foster a quiet, focused, and respectful learning environment. Encourage and model positive study habits, organizational skills, and goal setting. Monitor student progress and communicate any academic or behavioral concerns to program staff or parents. Collaborate with other tutors, teachers, and staff to align support with students' classroom instruction. Maintain accurate attendance and session notes as required. Uphold all school policies and procedures, including those related to student safety and behavior.

Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in college or have earned college credits Experience working with children in an academic or enrichment setting preferred. Strong knowledge in elementary-level reading, writing, and mathematics. Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a busy environment. Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all learners. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Must pass background check and meet all required clearances.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be enrolled in or have completed college coursework

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Capable of moving between student groups and engaging with children in a classroom setting.
