The Referee is responsible for setting up the playing field, enforcing game rules, making fair and timely calls, and managing interactions with players, coaches, and staff. The ideal candidate is confident, level-headed, and comfortable making decisions in the moment. This role requires someone who can remain composed during disagreements or challenging situations, communicate clearly, and handle confrontation professionally without overreacting. Key Responsibilities Game Officiating Officiate games fairly and consistently according to established rules and guidelines. Make clear and confident calls during gameplay. Communicate rules, calls, and decisions clearly to players and coaches. Maintain control of the game while promoting a safe and respectful environment. Address disagreements, inappropriate behavior, or rule violations calmly and professionally. Remain composed when a call or decision is questioned. Use good judgment when resolving conflicts or unexpected situations. Ask questions or respectfully seek clarification when a rule, instruction, or decision is unclear. Communicate concerns or questionable decisions to the appropriate supervisor when necessary. Field Setup & Breakdown Set up playing fields before scheduled games and activities. Follow specific field measurements and layout requirements. Accurately measure designated playing areas. Place and line up cones to create field boundaries and designated areas. Ensure fields are properly and safely set up before participants arrive. Break down and organize field equipment following games or activities. Report missing, damaged, or unsafe equipment or field conditions. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to remain calm and composed in high-energy or confrontational situations. Comfortable addressing conflict and communicating directly with players, coaches, staff, and others. Confident making decisions and standing behind appropriate calls. Able to accept feedback and respectfully question or seek clarification on decisions when appropriate. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to follow established schedules and procedures. Ability to follow detailed field measurements and setup instructions. Ability to work outdoors and remain active throughout scheduled games. Must successfully complete required background check. Must provide required TB clearance. Previous referee, sports, coaching, or youth program experience is preferred but not required. Ideal Candidate The ideal Referee does not become easily overwhelmed when challenged. They can stay calm, think clearly, communicate confidently, and handle disagreements without escalating the situation. They are comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and making decisions while remaining respectful and professional.
