Full Job Description Overview:
The Youth Sports Official will provide leadership to all participants and coaches by knowing, understanding, and implementing the rules of the game and ensuring the safety of the playing area. The official will make sure the overall program runs smoothly, including games starting and ending according to the schedule. Sports include basketball, soccer, football, and volleyball. This job announcement is not intended to be inclusive of all functions, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, however, representative of the essential job functions and typical criteria considered necessary to successfully perform the position.
Responsibilities:
Officiates at games and records wins and losses Develops positive relationships with participants, coaches and parents Controls the conduct of game play and spectators Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems Sets up and maintains a clean playing area Attends staff meetings and trainings as required Enforces rules and regulations Communicates effectively with members, peers, volunteers, parents, children and supervisor Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures including emergency procedures Completes incident and accident reports as necessary Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong people-skills Fair and appropriate approach when working with participants, parents and coaches Significant involvement with the sport and/or experience officiating the sport in order to advise participants and coaches
