Job Description

Under the direction of the Athletics Director, the Youth Sports Official will officiate youth basketball games and ensure a smooth transition from game to game. Constant interaction with team players requires a professional demeanor while also maintaining an attitude of fair play at all times. The Youth Sports Official must maintain high personal standards, and adhere to, and carry out, the Purpose and Values of Greater Midland.?Major Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe playing environment at all times, by calling fouls and violations.
  • Abide by NFHS and/or MCC League Rules.
  • Work cooperatively, positively, enthusiastically and professionally with all league participants, team Managers and Greater Midland Staff / Volunteers.
  • Ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are secured for each game session.
  • Provide and wear own uniform.
  • Be positive, demonstrate enthusiasm and show engagement with players at all times.
  • Keep the Athletics Director informed of any special issues or needs.
  • Embrace and demonstrate the values of Greater Midland. Qualification Requirements
  • Basketball specific knowledge of the game and its rules.
  • Excellent people skills; ability to work in a team-setting with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Ability to think and act independently.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Bending, twisting and reaching required
  • Ability to move on the playing court in accordance with game play.
