Softball Scorekeeper/ Field Attendant Shelby Charter Township, MI Job Details Seasonal 1 day ago Qualifications Record keeping Customer communication Report writing Outdoor work Customer service Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description Recreation Aide Softball Scorekeeper/Field Attendant The Charter Township of Shelby is now accepting applications for a Part-Time/Seasonal Recreation Aide - Softball Scorekeeper/Field Attendant. The Softball Scorekeeper/Field Attendant is responsible for maintaining the official score during adult softball games and assisting with basic game site operations. This position helps ensure games run smoothly by keeping accurate records, supporting Team Managers and Umpires, and monitoring the field and facility during league play. Weekly hours will vary depending on scheduled games but will average approximately 10-17 hours per week during the season. Games are played at Mae Stecker Park, 8600 24 Mile Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48316.
Compensation Hourly Rate:
$14.99 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Keep accurate score for softball games. Report final scores as required. Ensure the softball field and surrounding area are safe and ready for play. Distribute equipment and game-related items to team managers and umpires as needed. Provide trophies, shirts, or other awards to teams when directed by league staff. Assist with general game operations and provide support during games. Turn field lights off after the final game of the evening when applicable. Arrive before scheduled game times and remain on site until duties are completed. Monitor games and field conditions and report any incidents, injuries, rule disputes, or facility issues to the League Sports Coordinator. Complete any required game reports and communicate concerns or unusual situations to league staff in a timely manner. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Ability to work evenings and weekends based on league schedules. Basic knowledge of softball rules and scoring procedures preferred. Ability to maintain accurate records and pay attention to detail. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during games. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Ability to pass pre-employment Physical and Drug screening.
