above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger, beginning with you. Essential Functions Sets up equipment and greets families. Matches volunteer buddies with Miracle League (ML) players on a weekly basis. Ensures all ML volunteers have signed the volunteer waiver form before beginning the game. Warms-up with players and buddies Builds positive, lasting relationships with players and families. Runs the game by welcoming all players, spectators, and volunteers, determining the designated pitcher, dividing up teams, and taking charge as the manager on the field. Ensures all players get a chance to hit the ball, run the bases, and score each inning at bat. Conducts an energizing, fun, safe, and entertaining game for all involved participants. Provides positive feedback and encouragement to all participants throughout the game. Builds effective relationships with program participants and the YMCA. Keeps accurate program attendance records; ensures all program participants have paid prior to participating in the league practices or games. Transports post-game snacks and baseball equipment to and from the Miracle League Field. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations as appropriate. The Miracle League Coach works for the Y during the season only. The Miracle League Coach supports with program fundraising and does not handle money or payments. Fosters an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Meaningfully participate in and lead efforts to support the Y's commitment to equity and diversity. Supervisory Responsibility There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position. Work Environment The Miracle League Coach works outside in weather that may vary in temperature and conditions. Physical Demands Ability to take charge and lead a fun, exciting, baseball game. Ability to stand and move for up to 3 hours at a time. Ability to demonstrate basic baseball skills used during the game. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including walking, jogging, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, hitting, pitching, and throwing. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is expected to work 2.5 hours a week. The games are played on most Saturdays June 13th - August 8th. Travel Travel is limited the Miracle League baseball field and the Lake Superior YMCA service area.Required Education and Experience Certifications:
Basic CPR/AED and First Aid is required. Training can be provided upon hire. Higher levels of certification are accepted. Available most Saturday mornings from June 13th - August 8th Must be 18+ years of age.
