Summary We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to serve as game officials for the Hamilton Middle School sports program. This seasonal position involves officiating various school sporting events, ensuring fair play, and maintaining a positive environment for student athletes. Game officials will work closely with coaches, players, and spectators to uphold the integrity of the game and promote sportsmanship. Responsibilities

• Officiate games for various sports, including but not limited to basketball, football, and volleyball, ensuring adherence to established rules and regulations.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the specific sport's rules and regulations to ensure fair play and safety.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and spectators regarding game rules, decisions, and any necessary clarifications.
• Manage game flow, including timing, scorekeeping, and ensuring that all necessary equipment is available and functional.
• Address any conflicts or disputes that arise during games, making decisions in a fair and impartial manner.
• Promote good sportsmanship among players, coaches, and spectators, setting a positive example for all participants.
• Attend pre-season training sessions and meetings as required to ensure preparedness for the season.
• Report any incidents or concerns to the athletic director or supervising staff promptly. Requirements
• Previous experience as a game official, referee, or umpire is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of the specific sports being officiated.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with coaches, players, and spectators.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations and make quick decisions.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and move quickly during games.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends, as games are typically scheduled during these times.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check as required per school board policy.
