The VCSU Intramural Flag Football Referee is responsible for officiating intramural flag football games while helping create a safe, fair, competitive, and enjoyable experience for all participants. Referees will enforce league rules, identify and call fouls, keep track of scores and game clock, and assist with the overall operation of intramural events. This position is an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy sports, working with others, and creating a positive campus community. Pay starts at $10 an hour.
Responsibilities :
Officiate VCSU intramural flag football games. Enforce VCSU intramural rules and flag football regulations. Identify and call fouls, penalties, and violations. Keep track of the score, downs, game clock, and possession. Communicate rules and decisions clearly and respectfully to participants. Maintain control of games and help resolve conflicts when they arise. Promote good sportsmanship and respectful behavior. Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants. Arrive on time and prepared for assigned games. Assist with field setup, equpment, and game operations when needed. Report injuries, major incidents, or sportsmanship concerns to the Intramural Coordinator. Help answer participant questions and provide information about intramural programs. Represent VCSU Campus Recreation in a professional and positive manner. Attend required referee training prior to the beginning of the season.
Qualifications :
Must be a currently enrolled VCSU student. Previous football, flag football, officiating, or sports experience is preferred but not required . Ability to make fair and confident decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional during disagreements. Dependable and punctual. Comfortable working with students from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Willingness to learn and apply intramural rules.
Physical Demands :
Regularly required to move about. Will be running or walking most of your games.
