In this vital role, you will develop personalized mobility plans, teach navigation skills, and foster independence for clients across diverse age groups. Your expertise will help transform lives by enabling individuals to explore their surroundings with confidence, promoting autonomy and quality of life. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through innovative teaching methods and compassionate support. Responsibilities Assess clients' mobility needs through comprehensive evaluations and develop tailored orientation and mobility plans. Teach clients how to use mobility aids such as canes, GPS devices, or other assistive technology effectively. Guide individuals in safe street crossing, public transportation use, and navigating complex environments like malls, parks, or schools. Collaborate with educators, therapists, parents, and caregivers to integrate mobility training into broader educational or therapeutic programs. Monitor progress regularly, adjusting instruction techniques to meet evolving needs and ensure continuous improvement. Educate clients on safety protocols, environmental awareness, and emergency procedures during navigation exercises. Document client progress meticulously and maintain detailed records aligned with educational and health regulations. Skills Strong understanding of visual impairments, deaf education, and disabilities related to developmental delays. Proficiency in learning technology, educational technology integration, and assistive devices for navigation. Experience in curriculum development tailored for mobility training and literacy education. Knowledge of special education laws such as IEP (Individualized Education Program) requirements and instructional modifications. Excellent communication skills for effective parent communication, team collaboration, and client instruction. Familiarity with behavior management strategies for students with special needs and experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities. Ability to design engaging lesson plans that incorporate recreational therapy, physical education techniques, and early intervention strategies.
