Job Description

Culinary Arts Companion & Cooking Instructor Berkeley, CA 94703 $25.87 - $31.15 an hour - Part-time $25.87 - $31.15 an hour - Part-time About the Role If you love cooking, teaching, and creating meaningful experiences through food, this role may be a great fit. We're looking for a fun, enthusiastic, and patient individual to work one-on-one with a calm, positive young adult with special needs in our beautiful North Berkeley home near the Rose Garden. The goal is to build genuine culinary skills — alongside confidence, communication, and independence — by turning home cooking into an engaging, hands-on learning experience. Responsibilities Lead interactive cooking sessions using our home kitchen Teach cooking fundamentals such as ingredient prep, recipe development, and meal planning Encourage curiosity and skill growth while involving the young adult in every step Prepare healthy, delicious meals together in a structured yet creative way Maintain an organized, welcoming kitchen environment Requirements Background or strong interest in culinary arts, cooking instruction, or nutrition Ability to guide and inspire through hands-on teaching Warm, dependable, and engaging personality Willingness to complete a free, 40-hour ABA training (provided) Experience working with neurodivergent individuals is a plus but not required

Part-time, approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation:
$30/hour All kitchen tools and supplies provided Additional Opportunities For applicants interested in more than 10 hours per week, there is potential to expand the role to include: Outdoor activity and nature companionship Arts and crafts instruction (sewing, crocheting, etc.) Tutoring in high-school subjects (Geometry, World History, English Composition) Meeting these additional areas of need could expand the position into a full-time role.
