This mission is accomplished through cooperative efforts with teachers, school districts, families, and communities; through direct instructional programs and administrative services; and through coordination with the California Department of Education and other agencies. Job Summary Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Assistant Principal/Director, instruct at-risk youth in an assigned general or specialized classroom; participate in special programs to facilitate group and individual student learning and counseling in areas such as alcohol and drug abuse, teen parenting or other assigned areas. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a valid California Teaching Credential (Multiple or Single Subject); OR be eligible to enroll in a multiple subject intern program by meeting the following requirements: o A Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university o Passing scores on the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET)
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience with training in methods of instruction in alternative education settings, is desirable;
  • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver's License;
  • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
  • Candidates who have only a BA may be employed on a Provisional Internship Permit to allow time to pass the CSET exam in order to enroll in a multiple subject intern program.

MCOE does not participate in the Social Security system.
