Chef/Cooking Instructor

The Cooking Instructor at Journey Culinary provides fun, cultural, and engaging cooking classes for students. We are looking for a passionate instructor who can explain recipes and techniques clearly, has knowledge of international cuisines, and can share cultural context about the dishes. Understanding food science and the "whys" of cooking is required. All cooking instructors will have a cook assistant who will help the instructor to set-up the table and the kitchen stations for the students. The cooking instructor and his assistant will clean the space after class. This is a very part-time position (to conduct a couple of classes per week) with room to grow into a full-time/salaried role. A typical class lasts 4-5 hours, and a shift includes arriving 1 hour early to review menus, prep ingredients, welcome students, give a brief introduction about Journey Culinary's mission, answer questions, teach the class, and clean up afterward.

Essential Functions:

Deliver an exceptional, interactive cooking experience for up to 10 students using provided recipes and lesson plans. Maintain class timelines so sessions stay on schedule. Ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and guest areas. Communicate with and supervise a Kitchen Assistant during class. Set up, teach, and break down all classes. Engage with students in a friendly, professional manner.
