Driver Education Classroom Instructor and Behind-the-Wheel Instructor Western Slope Driving Institute Parker, CO Job Details Part-time From $31 an hour 19 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Company vehicle operation High school diploma or GED Driver's License Driving Teaching Full Job Description About the Role Western Slope Driving Institute is seeking a Driver's Education Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Instructor to provide engaging, state-approved instruction to teen drivers. This role includes both leading classroom courses and providing one-on-one, behind-the-wheel driving instruction. The ideal candidate is confident speaking in front of groups, patient while working individually with new drivers, passionate about safety, and able to maintain a structured, professional learning environment. This position will primarily support our Littleton and Parker locations , with flexibility based on class and drive scheduling. What You'll Do Lead in-person driver's education classes following Colorado state curriculum requirements Deliver clear, engaging instruction on traffic laws, safe driving habits, and defensive driving techniques Maintain control of the classroom and ensure a focused, respectful learning environment Provide behind-the-wheel instruction to students in a calm, patient, and professional manner Teach students how to safely operate a vehicle and apply classroom concepts in real-world driving situations Evaluate students' driving skills and provide clear, constructive feedback Maintain a safe learning environment during all driving lessons Accurately track attendance, instructional hours, drive progress, and required documentation Ensure students meet all state-required classroom and behind-the-wheel instructional requirements Communicate professionally with students, parents, and WSDI staff Support program consistency and uphold WSDI standards Schedule Classroom courses are typically held: Weekends in Saturday and Sunday blocks, 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Thursday during holidays and summer break, 9:00am-5:00pm Behind-the-wheel lessons may be scheduled on weekdays, evenings, or weekends based on student demand and instructor availability. Schedules will vary depending on enrollment, drive demand, and location needs. Locations Littleton, CO Parker, CO Pay & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Flexible, part-time scheduling Opportunities for both classroom and behind-the-wheel instructional hours Supportive team environment Opportunity for additional hours as program needs grow Qualifications Previous teaching, coaching, training, or driving-instruction experience preferred Strong public speaking and classroom-management skills Patient and comfortable working one-on-one with new and inexperienced drivers Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with teens and parents Calm and professional in challenging or stressful driving situations Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented Comfortable following structured curriculum, instructional procedures, and safety policies Requirements Must be at least 21 years old Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by Colorado law Must meet all Colorado requirements for classroom and behind-the-wheel driver's education instructors—or be willing to obtain the required certifications Comfortable operating a driver's education vehicle and supervising new drivers Reliable transportation between the Littleton and Parker locations Why Work at WSDI?
