Job Description
Instructs fire science courses and coordinates the Fire Science Programs. 1. Teaches a minimum of 100 clock hours each school year with all the responsibilities listed under "Instructor". 2. Prepares, revises and submits course/program objectives and competencies to the Executive Director of Public Service Programs. 3. Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and coordinating the Fire Science Programs. 4. Provides support to and attends the Fire Science Programs Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings. 5. Prepares semester course schedules and coordinates scheduling of courses with the Executive Director, Provost and Campus Associate Dean at the assigned campus. 6. Recommends adjunct instructors and assists the Executive Director and Associate Dean/East Campus in conducting performance evaluations for adjunct faculty assigned to the Fire Science Programs. 7. Assists the Executive Director in maintaining contact with local, state, and federal agencies involved with the Fire Science Programs and serves as the College's primary liaison to the fire science community. 8. Prepares and submits program-related reports and agreements for approval and maintains program-related records. 9. Maintains e-certification and assures that adjunct faculty completes e-certification training as appropriate. 10. Submits appropriate paperwork to keep textbooks and other instructional materials current. 11. Assists the Executive Director and Campus staff with the scheduling of facilities to include field activities and the use of facilities and apparatus of fire agencies. 12. Assists the Executive Director with the ordering, maintenance and storage of fire equipment and apparatus. 13. Recommends and monitors appropriate program outcomes and assists the Executive Director in program assessments. 14. Performs other duties as assigned. Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution; must possess and maintain current Fire Service Instructor Certification at Instructor II level or higher and Live Fire Training Instructor I level or higher, as defined by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Master's Degree in fire science or related field from a regionally accredited institution. Level III certification.
