Minimum Qualifications Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Preferred Qualifications Position Summary This job is a permanent part-time position as an Environmental Educator at Burton 4-H Center located on Tybee Island, Georgia. The primary responsibility is to independently lead K-12 grade students through multidisciplinary classes in an outdoor setting. Class subjects offered include life and earth science, ecology, and marine science. Other responsibilities include animal care, maintenance of teaching areas and resources, facilities, grounds, and support of general operations of the facility. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Commitment, genuine interest in child development, dynamic personality, well-developed communication skills, creativity, and leadership ability
Skill in teaching a wide variety of subjects to K-12 grade youth
Broad knowledge of outdoor education and able to work in an outdoor setting
Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with and care for live teaching animals (reptiles, amphibians, and others) Physical Demands Work when exposed to outdoor elements including but not limited to adverse physical and weather conditions.
Lift 20-40 pounds and walk approximately 3 miles daily.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Independently lead K-12 grade students through multidisciplinary classes in an outdoor setting for 1-2 or 3-day field studies.
Class subjects offered include both life and earth science, survival skills, team building, high-and low-ropes challenges, and pioneer living skills.
Teaches classes, and implements new, innovative, academic, and research based curriculum and classes in keeping with state and national standards. Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities Maintenance and cleanup of facilities and grounds. Dining hall assistance. General support of overall center operations: Office and reception work
