GENERAL SUMMARY
The BLS instructor will teach BLS and Heartsaver courses at our IMA campus and other local hospitals/clinics. BLS instructors give hands on instruction based on the steps outlined by the AHA. The BLS Instructor will use the objective criteria as outlined in the skills sheets to determine the student's competency in individual skills as well as patient scenarios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teaching essential BLS skills to students Following AHA's template of videos and skill sheets Using computer programs including Microsoft Teams and Canvas Setting up and preparing for classes Collecting skills sheets and other paperwork to upload to the AHA for approval
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs all functions and fulfills all requirements of an AHA Instructor Maintains and request training equipment Performs related tasks as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current BLS certification (AHA certified) Lead a minimum of 2 classes (8 hours each) every month Knowledge of instructional techniques and methods utilized for teaching classes Ability to read and comprehend technical written material Ability to instruct and evaluate technical, medical skills with a high degree of accuracy Ability to organize time effectively to accomplish prescribed duties and additional tasks Ability to engage and work with employees, other educational organizations, and the public with a positive, constructive attitude
SCHEDULE
Minimum 2 shifts required every month (8 hours each) Open availability to pick up shifts (Mon-Sat)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent must wear department-issued dress and safety uniforms or appropriate business attire while on duty and be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of both dress and safety uniforms as well as any issued equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Much of the work is performed in a classroom environment and involves a combination of standing, walking and sitting May be required to lift 50 lbs The work requires the incumbent to operate IMA programs ( MS 365, Airtable, Canvas), move, and operate medical equipment
