Job Title:
Business Education Teacher (Career & Technical Education - CTE) Job Summary The Business Education Teacher provides standards-based, career-focused instruction within the Career & Technical Education (CTE) program in areas such as business management, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. The position prepares students for postsecondary education and the workforce by integrating academic content with technical and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on career readiness, industry certification attainment, and high-quality work-based learning experiences aligned to state-approved career pathways. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned CTE curriculum in business management, entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and personal finance. Align instruction with Idaho CTE standards, program quality indicators, and industry expectations. Utilize instructional strategies such as project-based learning, simulations, and applied learning experiences reflective of real-world business environments. Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (e.g., Microsoft Office Specialist, QuickBooks, entrepreneurship and finance credentials). Integrate employability skills including communication, teamwork, professionalism, adaptability, and problem-solving. Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate work-based learning experiences such as internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships (as applicable), and school-based enterprises. Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, workforce agencies, and community organizations to enhance program relevance and student opportunities. Maintain accurate records of student progress, technical skill attainment, certifications, and work-based learning documentation. Participate in CTE program advisory committees and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement. Manage classroom, laboratory, and/or school-based enterprise environments in accordance with safety and industry standards. Participate in required professional development related to CTE, industry trends, and instructional best practices. Comply with all district, state, and federal requirements, including reporting, safety, and program approval standards.
Qualifications Required:
Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement in Business/Marketing or demonstrated ability to obtain within a reasonable time after hire. Ability to meet Idaho Career & Technical Education (CTE) instructor requirements, which may include: Relevant industry work experience (typically 2,000+ hours in a related field), and/or Completion of an approved CTE teacher preparation pathway Demonstrated knowledge of business, finance, marketing, or entrepreneurship concepts. Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Adobe products, Canva, etc.
Preferred:
Prior teaching or training experience in a secondary or postsecondary setting. Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Office Specialist, QuickBooks, entrepreneurship credentials). Experience with work-based learning coordination or business partnerships. Familiarity with career pathways, program advisory processes, and CTE program quality indicators. Working Conditions Classroom and/or lab-based instructional setting with integrated technology and business-related software Extended hours may be required for supervision of student organizations (e.g., BPA or DECA), work-based learning, or advisory meetings. This would include travel and overnight supervision of students. Be available to attend Idaho Career and Technical Education conferences as required by State CTE. Regular interaction with students, staff, business partners, and community members Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and circulate throughout classroom and lab environments Ability to use standard office and instructional technology Occasional lifting of instructional materials or equipment (up to 25 pounds)
Pay:
$50,252.00 - $84,145.00 per year
