Company Overview Amara brings fitness and wellness programming directly to residential communities across the country. We're launching a new Aquatic Meditation experience at The Linea Apartments in downtown Chicago and are looking for an experienced instructor with a background in aquatic fitness, meditation, and lifeguarding to lead this program. This is an instructor position, not a traditional lifeguard position. A current lifeguard certification and experience leading meditation or mindfulness practices are required. Candidates must meet both requirements to be considered. During Aquatic Meditation, residents will relax on pool floaties while the instructor guides them through meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, and visualization. The instructor will create a calming, restorative experience while maintaining participant safety and comfort in the pool environment. Aquatic fitness teaching experience and an Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) certification, or equivalent aquatic fitness certification, are strongly preferred. Learn more at withamara.com . What You'll Do Lead guided Aquatic Meditation experiences for residents relaxing on pool floaties. Lead meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, and visualization throughout the experience. Safely facilitate classes in a swimming pool environment. Create a calming, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for participants of all experience levels. Ensure participant safety and comfort throughout each class. Build relationships with residents and foster a strong sense of community. Track attendance and provide simple class feedback (training provided). Required Qualifications Current lifeguard certification —
REQUIRED.
Experience leading meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, Yoga Nidra, or a similar restorative practice —
REQUIRED.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification —
REQUIRED.
Confidence independently leading a guided meditation experience. Comfort and confidence working with participants in a swimming pool environment.
Please note:
This is an instructor position that requires an active lifeguard certification. Candidates without both lifeguard certification and relevant meditation/mindfulness experience will not be considered. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience teaching aquatic fitness or aquatic wellness classes. Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) certification or equivalent aquatic fitness certification. Experience leading group classes in a swimming pool. Meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, yoga, or related wellness certification. Personal training, yoga, or health coaching certifications. Experience teaching Aqua Yoga, Aqua Strength, Aqua Cardio, Aqua Stretch & Mobility, or similar aquatic formats.
