The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps' mission is to educate and train youth ages 16-24 for successful careers in the nation's fastest-growing industries. The Instructor is r esponsible for providing students with industry recognized instruction and training leading to full-time jobs, higher education or advanced training.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Provide students with quality career technical training instruction in a safe and clean environment which results in high completion and placement performance. Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student's training. Maintain and monitor progress and attendance records, frequently update individual student progress on training achievement records (TARS). As applicable, assist in the planning and implementation of CTST projects, provide supervision of students assigned to CTST projects or other center career and technical training projects. Assist in developing community linkages and work-based learning (WBL) sites for the career and technical training department. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment. Follows curriculum guidelines, organizes program of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in trade. Education and Experience A minimum of one-year experience in teaching or related field required. Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
