JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Welding Technology Instructor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Provide verification of a minimum of 6,000 hours of direct occupational experience in industry within the most recent ten years; OR
  • Associates Degree from an accredited institution with a major in the area to be taught AND
  • 5,000 hours of related employment
  • Valid Missouri vocational certification
  • ASE certificate preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a major in the area to be taught AND
  • 4,000 hours of related employment; OR

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field of welding to include tools, equipment, and blueprint. Ability to weld with GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, MIG, and TIG in all positions. Ability to use oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment. Mechanically inclined and experienced with mechanical repairs on industrial equipment. Effectively instruct students enrolled in our Collision Repair Instructor classroom. Purchase and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment within an approved budget. Current knowledge of welding certifications and welding employment examinations for the purpose of preparing students for certifications (AWS) and occupational experiences.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in Professional Development training. Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties. Working to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, their parents, as well as business and industry concerning student performance in the career and technical education program. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance that complies with District policies and rules. Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district team. Must be able to collaborate with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change. Supervises classroom, students, aides, volunteers, and areas as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Wage and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas. Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required. Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing. Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
