Job Description

Under general supervision of Director, Human Resource Development (HRD), the instructor will prepare and teach assigned classes and fulfill other duties as needed. Instructor will also perform normal duties associated with the education of inmates, excluding any and/or all correctional officer duties. Class schedule is Monday - Friday, 32-hours week. Hours are
Monday-Thursday:
7am - 3pm (includes a 1-hour lunchbreak),
Friday:
7am-11pm Anticipated start date is current. Teach assigned classes Develop/update curriculum Provide classroom and course management in a manner that is consistent with appropriate professional conduct Utilize methods of instruction and teaching techniques that are appropriate to the fulfillment of course goals and objectives Furnish all data and reports in a timely manner as may be required by the Economic Workforce Development Division using appropriate forms and formats Develop and maintain syllabi for classes within the department and provide a copy to students the first week of class Maintain accurate class rosters and submit same in the manner and at times required by the Department Dean Attend instructor meetings as scheduled Actively participate in instructor evaluation process Notifies Department Director of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing Carries out special assignments at the request of the Director Review and recommend textbooks, reference materials, software, audio visual aids, and learning resources for classroom use Recommend curriculum revisions and modifications to supervisor Assist in determining budget needs for program and recommend purchases of equipment and supplies when appropriate Mentor new instructors as assigned by the supervisor Assist the Department Director in developing class schedules Participate in graduation, pre-registration and registration exercises, and be available for student orientations as requested Maintain professional and technical knowledge through reading professional publications and attending workshops and conferences as appropriate Assist in areas outside the classroom which would enhance student/inmate interest and knowledge
Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years teaching experience; Teaching experience in the community college system is preferred License(s)
Required:
None Required Experience in a correctional setting is desired.
