A Vocational Education Instructor teaches technical or job related skills to students, and uses work-based experience to help students learn about and prepare for jobs in a particular occupation. Provides training for jobs in business, health care, auto repair, information technology, culinary arts, or other areas. Teaches in a public high school, a regional or college program, or at a private training program.

07/29/2026 General Function The Electrical Instructor is responsible for providing quality skills instruction to our electrical students through seated and practical hands-on/lab courses. The Instructor is responsible for providing one-on-one and whole-group instruction so that students can acquire the skills expected acquire the skills expected in the electrical industry. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years residential and/or commercial electricity work experience required or must have experience as a minimum journeyman or be a licensed technician with North Carolina or NCCER Must complete NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program within 2 weeks of being hired Working Conditions Classroom, lab, or shop environment Frequent standing and walking to monitor student progress Some light lifting of materials pertaining to lab projects Essential Functions and Responsibilities The duties of the Electrical Instructor- Jones County Center (Part-time) include, but are not limited to: Use the NCCER curriculum Maintain current knowledge of the standards and regulations required to become a Licensed Electrical Contractor Utilize appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments Utilize available instructional technology, i.e. the internet, telecourse, interactive technology when appropriate Establish an understanding of the legal aspects of this skill and how city, state, and federal agencies dictate the expected performance of the electrical technician Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs Facilitate the appropriate handling of tools, gauges, and equipment that are used to ensure a safe electrical systems installation is always performed Notice of Nondiscrimination Lenoir Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
