Job Description
LOCATION
South Sioux City, NE- Hedquist location
JOB TYPE
Head Start Teacher:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday, may be subject to seasonal layoff.
JOB SUMMARY
- Head Start Teacher
- Teachers are responsible for understanding, planning and implementing developmentally appropriate environment and activities for preschool age children.
- Oversee the educational aspects of the center, including classroom staff and volunteers.
- Follow the program's curriculum. Develop weekly lesson plans and send them to supervisor. Maintain on-going assessments/screenings for each child.
- Plan and implement individualized activities for each child according to their
MDT/IFSP/IEP.
- Attend and participate in children's
MDT/IEP/IFSP
meetings.- Complete required educational home visits and Parent/Teacher conferences.
- Enter documentation for each child and manage child data and reports through the online computer assessment system.
- Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
- Maintain a tracking system of job performance with aides and volunteers and address performance issues.
- Prepare and conduct introductory and annual performance evaluations for relevant staff. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
- Head Start Teacher Associate's,Bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education or advanced degree and coursework in early childhood education with early childhood teaching experience.
