06/12/2026 Posting Opens May 26, 2026 Posting Closes June 12, 2026 The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Home Instructor, Job Code 038, TS 380 (190 Days), Salary $37.24 (extended time) an hour, not to exceed 5 hours per Home Instruction student. This position requires availability after-school hours. Bargaining Unit - AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position. Required:
Valid teaching certification/licensure in the State of Ohio.
Desired:
Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies; Experience in planning, developing and conducting instruction in a one-one setting; Commitment to work with scientifically-based research instructional practices; Experience working collaboratively with families, teachers and building staff.
Position Description:
Administers, scores and records the testing for assigned students; Communicates frequently with the regular classroom teacher to identify pupil needs; Reports pupil progress to classroom teacher, program personnel and/or parents; Coordinates the supplementary program instruction with that of the regular instructional program; Keeps up-to-date records of each pupil's progress; and Performs all other duties as directed by the Director of Special Education or his designee.
