Job Description
Adapt instruction for different learning styles, skill levels, and support needs. Track participant progress and collaborate with program staff. Maintain a safe, respectful, organized, and trauma-informed learning environment. Support prep, production, cleaning, deliveries, supply ordering, kitchen upkeep, and occasional grocery shopping. Required Experience teaching, training, coaching, facilitating, or mentoring adults or young adults. Three or more years of professional culinary or food-service experience in a commercial or comparable professional kitchen. Ability to turn culinary knowledge into clear, structured, hands-on instruction. Strong communication, classroom management, organization, and time-management skills. Experience leading or mentoring others in a kitchen, education, training, youth-development, or workforce-development setting. Knowledge of commercial food safety, sanitation, and health department standards. Commitment to equity, inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and participant success. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Basic computer skills for email, spreadsheets, and reporting. Valid Oregon driver's license and Oregon Food Handler Card, or ability to obtain the card before starting. Preferred Experience teaching in culinary training, adult education, youth development, workforce development, or a community-based program.
Experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds or individuals building new pathways to employment. Culinary degree, teaching credential, facilitation training, or relevant certification. Schedule and Environment Approximately 32 hours per week, primarily weekdays with occasional evenings. Work takes place across two active culinary training and food-production kitchens. The role requires extended standing and walking, work around commercial equipment, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
