Category Schools - General Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact on young learners by guiding their growth as a Middle/High School Librarian Media Specialist. In this contract role for the 26/27 academic year, you'll support students and teachers by fostering an engaging learning environment filled with resources, digital tools, and innovative programming in a dynamic school setting. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) that offers the chance to inspire students' curiosity and literacy skills every day.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Master's degree in Library Information Science required. Active SCDE Licensure with an endorsement in Media Specialist/Librarian, or an eligible reciprocal license from another state. Familiarity with best practices in information literacy, digital citizenship, and current library media technology. Background as a general education teacher or library/media specialist preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills and a commitment to building an inclusive library environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a diverse, relevant library/media collection that supports curriculum and student interests. Collaborate with educators to integrate library media resources into teaching and project-based learning. Teach research skills, digital literacy, and ethical use of information to middle and high school students. Curate multimedia and digital content, supporting both traditional and digital literacy. Organize library programming, such as reading initiatives, book clubs, and makerspace activities. Maintain a welcoming, safe, and accessible learning environment for all students.
