About Villa Kitchen HTX Villa Kitchen HTX is a Houston-based culinary education, private dining, and community programming venture. We run hands-on cooking classes, youth and workforce-readiness culinary programs, supper clubs, and specialty coffee education. We're building a bench of part-time chef instructors to lead classes, demos, and community cooking sessions across our growing roster of programs.

Responsibilities Develop and deliver engaging curriculum tailored to diverse age groups and skill levels, emphasizing fundamental cooking techniques, safety, and creativity Lead interactive cooking classes that promote hands-on participation, teamwork, and fun learning experiences Manage classroom activities efficiently, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students Incorporate visual aids, demonstrations, and storytelling to enhance understanding of culinary concepts Assess student progress through observation and feedback, adapting instruction to meet individual needs Collaborate with colleagues to plan special events, themed workshops, or seasonal culinary projects Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen space in compliance with health and safety standards Qualifications Proven experience in professional culinary settings with strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices Prior experience teaching cooking or culinary arts to children, teens, or adults is highly desirable Ability to develop creative lesson plans that engage learners of various ages and skill levels Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive learning environment Knowledge of nutrition, food presentation, and cultural cuisines is a plus Experience working with children or youth programs enhances your effectiveness in this role Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students Background in related arts such as photography or theater can add value to integrated culinary projects What You'll Do Lead hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations for adults, youth, or community groups Develop and adapt lesson plans, recipes, and skill-building curriculum aligned with class themes Teach knife skills, food safety, sanitation, and core culinary techniques Prepare ingredients, equipment, and workstations before each session Create an engaging, encouraging classroom environment for students of varying skill levels Support workforce-readiness and youth programming with age-appropriate instruction Collaborate with the Villa Kitchen team on menu and curriculum planning Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout instruction What We're Looking For Culinary training and/or professional kitchen experience (line cook through executive chef background welcome) Prior teaching, mentoring, or demo experience preferred, not required Comfortable speaking to and engaging a group Food Handler or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain before start) Reliable transportation to class locations across Houston Passion for food education, mentorship, and community-focused cooking Nice to Have Culinary degree or professional culinary school training Specialty focus (pastry, international cuisine, farm-to-table, coffee) Experience with youth or workforce-development programs Bilingual (English/Spanish) Benefits Flexible, choose-your-sessions scheduling Opportunity to build a portfolio of community and private-event teaching experience Path to additional hours across private dinners, demos, and corporate programming Supportive, mission-driven team environmentTo Apply:
