Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Assist Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers in management of classroom activities, administrative requirements, industry-based certifications, and shop/lab safety. Work under supervision of certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED and 48.0 Semester hours of college coursework or
Educational Aide Assessment Training Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Basic understanding of shop tools and the safe use of equipment
Experience:
Some experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support Help maintain safe, neat, and orderly CTE classrooms, shops and lab spaces while working with individual students or a small group. Follow defined calendar to serve as a scheduled guest teacher for certified CTE teachers to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or a small group. Assist with proctoring of industry-based certification exam administration as allowed. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and instructional materials. Plan, organize and make workroom supplies, paper goods, and materials readily available to staff. Student Management Provide oversight to ensure equitable participation and the safety of students in CTE shops, labs and classrooms. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom as assigned by campus. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Other Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned. Participate in specialized training related to CTE as needed.

Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting :
Occasional light lifting and carrying
Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours ; occasional districtwide travel; Auto Tech lab and Ag Mechanics welding shop
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work with a wide variety of teachers; Occasional districtwide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
