Aug 3, 2026 Job Description The job of Educational Diagnostician is to work collaboratively with School Psychologists and other evaluators to determine students' potential needs for special educational services. The Educational Diagnostician will administer achievement tests and various rating scales as directed by the psychologist, while also maintaining the students' testing file and ensure compliance with IDEA timelines for initial and re-evaluations.   • Five years of successful teaching experience as a special education teacher.
  • Preferred Master's Degree or higher.
  • Valid teaching license with special education certification or endorsements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain student confidentiality and monitor confidential files for students with disabilities. Maintain open and ongoing communication with Special Education Director, -School Psychologists, and all other evaluators (OT, PT, SLP, AT Specialist, BCBA, etc.) Administer and score a variety of assessments and rating scales, upon receiving training. Coordinate and schedule testing sessions including set up of materials, instruments, needed technology. Coordinate dissemination, receipt and scoring of behavior rating scales. Coordinate dissemination and receipt of medical releases. Consult and collaborate at the individual, family, group, and systems levels. Attend meetings designated by the Special Education Director. Provide support to teachers to acquire required components of evaluation and eligibility information including observations, work samples and progress monitoring. Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in special education meetings. Assist with pre-k pre-referral, referral, and screening/evaluation procedures. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate documentation and timely data input/submission for students with disabilities at the district level. Analyze urgent situations accurately and exercise judgment in taking effective action when dealing with students and colleagues of all levels. Maintain awareness of and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding Special Education. Assist with re-evaluation, eligibility, and IEP compliance checks Organize tasks and complete them with efficient use of time. Work with teachers, parents, and IEP teams to develop classroom management strategies, accommodations, and support services. Provide training to teachers and staff on behavior management techniques, social skills instruction, and crisis intervention. Observe students in classroom settings to understand triggers and behavior patterns. Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and collaborate with staff to improve social-emotional outcomes.
Qualifitications:
Master's degree preferred and appropriate certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The Gordon County School District reserves the right to accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Salary:
