Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Help foster communication and student success by bringing your expertise as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic school environment. Work collaboratively to create a supportive and accessible educational experience for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. This contract position offers stability with a consistent 37.5-hour work week and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Hold national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC), or meet state credentialing requirements Prior experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Flexibility to work with students of various ages, from elementary to high school Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in collaborative team contexts
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and extra-curricular events Ensure effective two-way communication between students, teachers, and staff Adapt interpreting strategies to meet individual student needs and learning styles Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for interpreters Actively contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when appropriate Collaborate with educators and support services to enhance student engagement and inclusion
