Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a supportive educational setting for the 26-27 school year, working with young learners just beginning their journey with American Sign Language. This contract role involves providing SLI support in a Kindergarten classroom, where your skills will help foster communication, inclusion, and growth among foundational-level students. The schedule is thoughtfully designed with half-day shifts every school day, allowing for a balanced work-life rhythm while making a meaningful difference in students' lives.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), especially at the fundamental level Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting is highly valued Comfortable working one-on-one and within classroom environments Strong communication and interpersonal skills Passion for supporting the growth and development of early learners acquiring new language skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver SLI services to Kindergarten students, focusing on basic, introductory ASL vocabulary and concepts Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to facilitate inclusive learning experiences Bridge communication between students, peers, and educators for a positive classroom atmosphere Adapt interpreting approaches to meet individual student needs as they begin learning ASL Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the professional standards of educational interpreters
