Educational Opportunity Program Learning Specialist - Grant-Funded (PT)

Part-Time, 12-Month This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases. Mohawk Valley Community College provides accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our students. The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Learning Specialist in our Student Life division. The EOP Learning Specialist will work with EOP students individually and in small groups to assist students in enhancing their study skills, academic strategies, organization, and time management skills while sharing best practices that will illuminate their path to academic success. They will facilitate weekly group study sessions throughout the semester. Key responsibilities for this position include: Administers self-assessments and develops time management plans and individualized study plans; Develops academic success programming for students; Supports students who need additional support or who are not meeting the College's academic expectations and plan individual and group meetings to assist them with getting back on track. Assesses student progress and reports to the Director; Facilitates study sessions; Collaborates with EOP staff to develop academic skills workshops; Other related duties as assigned by the Director.Work Schedule:
Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 4:00pm with occasional evenings & weekends Hours per week: 25Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Development, Sociology, or Education or related field One (1) year program experience in delivering academic support services Effective verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:
Master's degree One (1) year of teaching experience Experience with engaging a diverse population with their learning processAdditional Information:
