Position Summary:
The Mohawk Trail Regional School is seeking an Educational Team Leader and Out of District Coordinator for our students with IEPs in grades 7 through 12 for the 2026-2027 school year. The Educational Team Leader (ETL) will serve as chairperson for all IEP meetings on an assigned caseload, which will include students who attend private special education schools outside the district. On campus, the ETL will lead a team of special education teachers to help drive high-quality instruction and ensure compliance with all special education regulations. Additionally, the ETL will serve as the primary liaison among parents, staff, and the administration for students with disabilities. The ETL ensures the development and implementation of high-quality IEPs, ensures compliance with state and federal regulations (IDEA), and supports the integration of evidence-based instructional practices.
Key Responsibilities:
IEP Chair & Compliance:
Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings (initial, annual, and re-evaluations). Ensure all IEPs are legally compliant, pedagogically sound, and finalized within state timelines.
Team Leadership:
Supervise a team of special educators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. Facilitate regular team meetings to review student progress and recommend any amendments.
Parent Liaison:
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, fostering a collaborative home-school partnership. Resolve disputes collaboratively and proactively.
Case Management Support:
Monitor caseloads, track data, and assist teachers with progress monitoring and writing IEP goals.
Transition Planning:
Oversee the development of post-secondary transition plans for students ages 14-22, ensuring compliance with transition assessment and planning requirements.
Out-of-District Coordination:
Attend IEP meetings and program reviews for students who attend private special education schools. Travel to and from schools within Franklin, Berkshire, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties as needed. Conduct observations of students on-site to inform their progress-monitoring plans.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in Special Education or another related field of service provision preferred.
Experience Preferred:
Minimum of 5 years of teaching or direct service provision to students with special education needs. Previous leadership or management experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge:
Understanding of IDEA, state special education regulations, IEP development, and transition services.
Skills:
Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and work independently is highly valued. Previous ETL experience is not required. DESE licensure is not required. Training will be provided as needed.
Salary Range:
