Hunt Forest Products is seeking a highly experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead, direct, and continuously improve safety and environmental performance across our manufacturing facility. This role serves as a key member of plant leadership, building and driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and reducing operational risk while supporting production goals. The ideal candidate brings 10 or more years of progressive EHS experience in a mill, refinery, chemical, or heavy industrial environment, has strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective, practical, and sustainable field execution.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Culture:
Lead, manage, and motivate EHS personnel and site level safety resources to meet or exceed safety and environmental performance objectives. Actively promote a Zero Incident mindset, SIF Validations, Safety Audits and one-on-one training through visible leadership, coaching, and workforce engagement. Serve as the primary EHS advisor to Facility Management and Corporate Leadership. Drive continuous improvement in safety awareness, skills, behaviors, and accountability at all organizational levels. Lead and continually develop the Safety Committee to assist them in meeting goals and expectations Safety & Environmental Programs Develop, implement, enforce, and continuously improve site specific Safety and Environmental policies across multiple facilities as applicable. Ensure compliance with all OSHA, EPA, state, local, and corporate EHS requirements. Oversee life critical work processes, including permits, isolations, line breaks, confined space, excavations, lifts, and hot work in accordance with policy and OSHA rescue guidelines. Lead EHS policy variance reviews when standard procedures present increased risk, ensuring appropriate documentation, risk mitigation, and approvals. Incident Prevention & Investigation Lead and direct incident investigations (injuries, near misses, property damage, environmental events) to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate and execute hazard identification and risk reduction initiatives to drive sustainable incident reduction. Monitor safety performance metrics, audit findings, and trends; develop corrective action plans as needed. Training & Competency Develop, coordinate, and facilitate safety orientation and onboarding for new employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure continued safety training, testing, and competency verification for all employees. Maintain accurate training documentation and regulatory records. Contractor & Project Safety Partner with Construction and Project Managers to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into planning and execution of projects. Monitor contractor safety performance, headcounts, PPE compliance, and onboarding. Ensure all tools and equipment meet facility inspection standards and are appropriate for assigned tasks. Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with facility environmental programs, including but not limited to storm water management, chemical handling, SDS availability, spill response, and waste management. Coordinate environmental inspections, corrective actions, and reporting as required. Case Management & Reporting Provide transparent and timely follow up to Facility and Corporate Management regarding: o First aid cases o Near misses o Recordable injuries o Workers' compensation cases o Property damage o Serious safety violations o Findings in both preliminary and final investigations Ensure immediate reporting of all incidents and accurate entry of documentation into required tracking systems. Support or lead Workers' Compensation claims management in collaboration with Facility and Corporate partnersEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A degree in a technical field directly related to Safety, Environmental, or Industrial Operations (Bachelor's degree preferred). Other degrees, or progressive experience exceeding 10 years, considered in lieu of degree. Maintained safety certifications and credentials will be reviewed and considered. 10+ years of progressive Health, Safety & Environmental (EHS) experience in a mill, refinery, chemical plant, or heavy industrial manufacturing facility. Prior experience as an EHS Manager, Safety Manager, or Senior Safety Coordinator required. Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance activities. Workers' Compensation claims management experience strongly preferred Skills Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interface effectively with hourly employees, contractors, and senior leadership. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail. Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple competing demands in a fast-paced industrial environment. Thorough working knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and employment related laws. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems. Environmental and Physical requirements Work is performed in an industrial mill environment. This includes working at heights requiring the use of ladders, platform and lifting machinery. Work is often performed in tight, dirty, oily areas including confined spaces. Overall, the mill is exposed to outdoor temperatures where extreme heat and cold will be a condition of work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of walking, standing, climbing, and accessing elevated or confined areas in an industrial environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required. Ability to access and navigate all departments within manufacturing facilities.Benefits:
