Foreman / Superintendent / Leadman Position Summary Design Electric is seeking a Commercial Electrical Apprentice for a prevailing wage project in Farmville, VA. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a state-qualified electrical apprenticeship program and committed to developing their skills in the commercial electrical trade. This position is ideal for individuals who are motivated to learn, work hard, and grow their career in a fast-paced commercial construction environment while working alongside experienced electricians and field leaders. The Commercial Electrical Apprentice assists experienced electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems for commercial construction projects while learning the trade through hands-on field experience and formal apprenticeship training. Key Responsibilities Assist in the installation and repair of commercial electrical systems, materials, devices, and fixtures Measure and cut conduit, Unistrut, and materials using hand and power tools Learn and apply skills such as conduit bending and fabrication of supports Pull wire through conduit systems for branch and feeder circuits Assist with installing panels, lighting, switchgear, and other commercial electrical components Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work environment Participate in daily safety meetings, jobsite briefings, and stretch-and-flex routines Follow supervisor instructions and ask questions to learn and improve Work safely and professionally while supporting overall project success Qualifications Must be currently enrolled in a state-qualified electrical apprenticeship program Commercial electrical experience preferred but not required Familiarity with hand tools and power tools with a strong focus on safety Ability to accurately read a tape measure Willingness to learn commercial electrical installation methods and NEC standards Strong work ethic, dependability, and positive attitude Ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced construction environment Must be authorized to work in the United States Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical labor throughout the workday Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions Capable of safely working on active commercial construction jobsites What We Offer Competitive prevailing wage compensation Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) with 25% company match Health Savings Account (HSA) and cost-saving prescription program 24/7 virtual doctor consults and company nurse advocate Paid time off (PTO), sick leave, and paid holidays Free orthopedic and telemedicine care Bonus and gainsharing program Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) Short- and long-term disability coverage Equal Opportunity Employer Design Electric, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace.
