Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Part-Time Student Accountability Advocate / Education Support Specialist II (T0474) in the Student Affairs Office. The successful candidate will perform a variety of functions and work collaboratively to assist the Dean of Students and associated offices. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as an
Administrative Hearing and Agreed Resolution Officer, and Hearing Advisor:
Conduct student disciplinary hearings in accordance with institutional policies/procedures Ensure due process and impartiality during hearings as outlined in the Student Handbook Facilitate agreed resolutions between involved parties in student conduct cases Facilitate
BASICS & CASICS
Meetings:
Follow up with assigned students to discern concerns and triage to appropriate resources Assist with various initiatives and projects, including student development programming
Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in professional development and continuing education Serve as a liaison with other university offices Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of work experience and/or training; Master's degree in counseling, education, student affairs, or related field preferred Organized, efficient, and effective while managing a work environment that involves interruptions and regular requests for immediate action or response Excellent personal interaction and teamwork skills, including communication (verbal and written), listening, empathy, compromise, and thoughtful participation Previous experience with student conduct or disciplinary programs preferred
Additional Information:
This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary wage position in pay band 3. Hours worked will vary based on need, but will be limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
