Electrical Engineer

Exxelia builds components that power innovation in extreme environments, and we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our specialized Magnetics Design team in Longwood, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for the architectural design of custom magnetic solutions, taking projects from initial conceptualization through to final production. You will work as a key member of the design team to push the boundaries of power density, efficiency, and reliability for mission-critical applications in the aerospace, defense, and medical sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Custom Component Design :

Design and develop custom transformers, inductors, and electromagnetic components based on complex customer electrical and mechanical requirements.

Modeling & Simulation :

Utilize advanced design software to perform electromagnetic simulations, thermal modeling, and circuit analysis to validate performance.

Technical Documentation :

Generate comprehensive design packages, including detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), winding instructions, and rigorous performance specifications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Testing & Validation :

Lead the testing of prototypes, analyzing data to ensure components meet inductance, DCR, leakage, and insulation requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related technical field.

Electromagnetic Theory :

Strong fundamental understanding of Maxwell's equations, core material characteristics (ferrites, powder cores), and power loss calculations.

Software :

Proficiency with CAD tools and magnetics simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, MagNet, or similar).

Industry Standards :

Familiarity with MIL-PRF-27, AS9100, or similar aerospace/defense quality standards is highly preferred.
