Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Engineer - Avionics Integration Job Description This role focuses on the design, integration, and testing of advanced avionics systems and cable assemblies for various aircraft, working both in a systems integration laboratory and hangar environment. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of electrical system design, from requirements development through fielding, while drafting technical reports, troubleshooting complex avionics issues, and actively supporting the Quality Management System. This position offers significant hands-on experience within a small, highly collaborative engineering team operating on a 4/10 work schedule. Responsibilities Design, develop, and support cable assembly construction, LRU interconnects, and electrical interfaces for aircraft avionics systems. Perform electrical design activities for avionics integration efforts, including requirements development, detailed design, analysis, and definition of testing requirements. Participate as a key member of an engineering team focused on integrating advanced avionics systems into various aircraft platforms. Support and actively participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent, high-quality engineering processes and documentation. Assist the Lead Avionics Engineer with aircraft integration tasks and contribute to program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) and configuration management tools to plan, document, and control electrical and avionics integration work. Draft clear, detailed technical reports covering design, installation, troubleshooting, testing, and certification of avionics architectures and associated systems and subsystems. Oversee or perform hands-on troubleshooting of avionics components, wiring harnesses, and related systems in both laboratory and hangar environments. Leverage Microsoft Office tools to create engineering documentation, presentations, test plans, and analysis reports. Manage time effectively to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, exercising sound judgment and discretion when making technical and project-related decisions. Communicate clearly in written and verbal form with engineers, leadership, and cross-functional team members to support successful integration outcomes. Perform additional engineering and integration tasks as assigned by the Lead Avionics Engineer. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. 4-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on electrical systems design, integration, and testing from conception through fielding. Expert knowledge of electrical system design, integration, and testing in an avionics or aerospace context. Hands-on experience with aircraft avionics systems and their integration into various aircraft platforms. Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, including 2D CAD applications such as AutoCAD and DraftSight. Ability to author clear, detailed, and technically accurate reports and documentation. Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Effective time management and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment and discretion. Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and accuracy. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and leadership. Ability to obtain or maintain a DoD SECRET clearance, as required for the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CAD software beyond 2D tools, including platforms such as SolidWorks, is beneficial. AutoCAD experience is preferred and supports efficient development of electrical drawings and schematics. Prior avionics integration experience is preferred and enhances effectiveness in this role. Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes is advantageous. Experience working directly on aircraft in a hangar or laboratory setting is helpful. Demonstrated ability to work in a small, hands-on organization where engineers engage closely with hardware and systems. Work Environment This position is fully onsite in a hangar environment in Guntersville, Alabama, working directly on aircraft and avionics systems. You will spend part of your time out on the floor in the hangar, engaging in hands-on integration and troubleshooting, and part of your time in a nearby office area with your own cubicle located close to leadership and other engineers. The role operates within a small, highly collaborative organization where engineers have significant direct impact and gain extensive hands-on experience. The standard schedule follows a 4/10 workweek, providing longer workdays with an additional day off each week. The work involves regular use of CAD tools, Microsoft Office applications, and standard engineering and test equipment in both laboratory and hangar settings. Attire should be appropriate for an active aircraft hangar and office environment, allowing you to move safely and comfortably between the hangar floor and your office workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Guntersville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
