Develop and execute engineering solutions for operation and enhancement of steel processing equipment. This is a technical support role for the operations and maintenance team. The majority of this role will be performed on the mill floor working with operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities:

Support of multiple steel processing departments Ensure safe and proper operation of processing lines per manufacturer operation and safety guidelines Addressing production improvement requests from the operations team Responding to out-of-service equipment issues Developing downtime reduction strategies Programming system visualization and controls according to specifications Maintain backups of all software related to mill operation and support systems Develop technicians troubleshooting skills and programming skills

Qualifications:

Strong communication skills

• Excellent safety and attendance record
• Required to be available any time day or night to take calls and call-in's.
• Technical degree in field of Electrical Engineering or similar
• Experience in: Power Distribution systems AC/DC Circuitry Components Programming and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Siemens PLCs, Step 7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal Variable Frequency Drives (VFD): TMEIC or Siemens Experience/Prefrences PC and Control System Networking and Industrial Communications Systems Experience with SMS Group Automation Systems including XPact Controllers Proficiency using LogiCAD Hydraulic & Pneumatic controls Know and understand electrical principles and electronics Knowledge of diverse electrical equipment Steel Dynamics Inc.
