Job Description
Overview:
The estimator will be tasked with analyzing bid specifications, subcontractor quotes, and drawings to prepare a comprehensive cost proposal. This role involves the thorough evaluation of project requirements, the preparation of detailed cost estimates, and the presentation of these estimates to project stakeholders. This position is an office based role in Derwent, Ohio.Responsibilities:
Develop detailed cost estimates based on project plans, specifications, and drawings. This includes material, labor, equipment, and other associated costs. Prepare and submit bid proposals for projects, ensuring all necessary documentation and compliance with client requirements. Coordinate with various departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates. Prepare detailed reports outlining estimated costs, assumptions, and justifications for estimates provided. Participate in pre-bid meetings and job site visits as required. Complete take-offs for bid preparation utilizing estimating software. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
candidates must complete a mandatory field stint which will be established by the Estimating Manager for up to 6 months to gain a comprehensive understanding of Bi-Con's methods and practices. 4-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required. 2+ years electrical estimating, engineering or similar experience preferred. Battery, fiber, and/or automation and controls experience a plus. General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing required. Detail-oriented, organized and ability to multi-task in a high-volume, deadline driven environment. Excellent problem solving, time management and decision-making skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal. Work will involve being in an office setting and will require onsite bid meetings.
